Eligibility Criteria

Breaking Barriers Tennis Association – Eligibility Criteria for Funded Tennis Sessions

As part of our mission to make tennis more accessible to all children, Breaking Barriers Tennis Association provides fully funded tennis sessions to children from low-income families. To ensure that support reaches those most in need, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for funded tennis sessions, all of the following must apply:

  1. Financial Need
The child’s parent or guardian must be in receipt of one or more of the following means-tested benefits:

    • Universal Credit

    • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

    • Income Support

    • Jobseeker’s Allowance (income-based)

    • Child Tax Credit (without Working Tax Credit)

    • Other equivalent means-tested benefits (subject to approval)

    • If the above don’t apply in your case but you are still in financial difficulty please send a letter requesting a review at our Trustee meeting.
  2. Not Currently Self-Funding Tennis Coaching
The child must not already be receiving privately funded tennis coaching or attending paid tennis sessions.

    • Families who are able to pay for private coaching or regular sessions are not eligible for this programme.

    • A declaration of financial need will be required as part of the application process.

  3. Session Limits

    • Funded support is limited to one tennis session per child per week under this scheme.

    • Additional sessions may be offered only in exceptional cases at the charity’s discretion and subject to funding availability.

Application and Verification

  • Proof of benefit entitlement (e.g. recent Universal Credit statement) will now be required as part of the application.

  • The charity may request additional information to confirm eligibility and reserves the right to review and revoke funding if circumstances change.

Commitment to Fair Access

Breaking Barriers Tennis Association relies on the honesty and goodwill of applicants to ensure that our limited resources reach the children who need them most.

We kindly ask families not to misuse or misrepresent their circumstances to gain access to funded sessions.

Providing false or misleading information not only undermines the fairness of the programme, but may also constitute fraud. In such cases, we reserve the right to withdraw support immediately and report serious breaches to the appropriate authorities.

By applying, you are confirming that all information provided is accurate and truthful to the best of your knowledge. This declaration is essential to maintaining the integrity and trust of our programme and ensuring continued support for families in genuine need.
